Of The Philippines And Majapahit

I was just aware, that the Philippine's national martial art is called Kali Majapahit. There's only one Majapahit in the world, and that was the Majapahit Empire of Indonesia.

The Majapahit Empire of Indonesia eclipsed the Srividjayan Empire spread throughout Southeast Asia and into the Philippines. At its height the Empire included areas that are today Burma, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, the Philippines and Madagascar. Deeply influenced by Moslem culture, the Majapahit muslim scholars brought Islam to the Philippines where it settled most heavily in the South, when Majapahit itself was already in the brink of downfall, and coastal areas had turned to be muslim areas and later became independent islamic sultanates.

Kali Majapahit (KM) is a unified concept of Filipino Martial Arts and traditional healing systems, where the martial art is not just about fighting, but also about healing and personal development.

Even though Kali Majapahit has its roots in the warrior arts of the Philippines, it also has elements of Indonesian Pencak Silat, Muay Thai, Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do, Chinese Kung Fu, Western Boxing.
