11 That Moved Millions

Indonesia is arguably a country with a great fondness for football , and it has a long history of ups and downs with its performance. From children in rural villages in the deep forests of Papua, to the president and the celebrities, football become one of the most important element of this nation as one of means to strengthen unity and togetherness among all people.

Indonesia indisputably has one of the football stiffest and toughest football competitions in Asia, with dozens of teams competing in various places far beyond their islands, or in remote areas.

Indonesia, in my opinion, has Asia's most attractive and fanatical supporters, with hundreds of thousands of supporters gathering up on each national football game events. This kinda thing can only be found in Latin Americas and Europe. Many foreign coaches and players are dreaming of coaching and playing in Indonesian leagues, just to feel this atmosphere of passions, and enthusiastic supporters. Although it is nothing like Brazil or Germany, not even on the same level as Japan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia or Iran, Indonesia has a large capital to continue to hone skills and performance. I have confidence that Indonesia's FIFA rankings will continue to rise (currently ranked 127), and will be one formidable force, at least in Asia.

In the AFF Suzuki Cup 2010, which had just ended, Indonesia played very beautifully and attractively, many said. However, often, a victory is brought by lucks. Malaysia, which was crushed in the preliminary round with a convincing 5-1 score, reversing the situation in the final fight leg I with a 3-0, something that burdened the Indonesian players and the whole team to win 4-0 in the second game. It is not easy, even for a team that always won in the earlier games in qualifying round.

In the whole, Indonesia practically lost only once.

Even so, football has once again become the color of Indonesia, at least in the last 2 weeks. Millions and millions of people nationwide tirelessly talked about their nation football team, wore their red color jersey, and shared their pride with counterparts worldwide. Too massive to ignore that international football icons like Cecs Fabregas and Rio Ferdinand congratulated Indonesia for its winning in the games.

Even though Indonesia failed to uphold the AFF Suzuki Cup 2010, it succesfully moved hundreds of million of people worldwide. And it wins the hearts of Indonesians.

GNFI- on behalf of all people of Indonesia- thank you, Bambang Pamungkas and team!
