Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Mari Elka Pengestu said she had promoted Indonesia`s culinary and music performance at the World Economic Forum in Davos last month. "We exhibited the special Indonesian culinary and our younger generation contemporary music during the World Economic Forum in Davos," the minister said here on Wednesday. According to Pangestu, culinary offering included Rendang and fried-rice is expected to become a promotion mechanism and attraction to participants of the World Economic Forum about Indonesia in general. Minister Mari on the occasion who led the country`s delegate brought an entourage of young Indonesian contemporary musicians and singers. "We promoted Indonesia in various types in effort to raise the country`s performance in the international forums," Mari who was the former trade minister said. According to her, the implementation of nation branding through culinary and musical performance appeared to become an effective effort to promote Indonesia through tourism and the creative economy. In addition, she said, the World Economic Forum in Davos late last month concluded that the highest growth of the tourism sector would take place in Asia. "Growth will take place in Asia so we will continue to increase promotional efforts and seek the way to build more effective connectivity," the tourism minister said. (*)
