Well, it looks like Gareth Evans isn't the only one who's getting some shine from the cult success of "The Raid: Redemption." Some deserved attention is being given to the film's star Iko Uwais, as he's landed a plum role in another unique, martial arts-styled flick.

Keanu Reeves has cast the actor in his directorial debut "Man Of Tai Chi." Reeves will also star in the movie, along with Tiger Hu Chen, one of the stuntmen on "The Matrix" films, and while plot details have been sparse at best, Variety notes the story is set in "modern Beijing" and "follows the spiritual journey of a young martial artist (Chen) whose skills present him with both exciting opportunities and painful choices." “There’s 18 fights. We’ve timed it out. It’s about 40 minutes of fighting,” he told MTV last year. “I want to make a good, solid kung fu movie. Good story, good plot — but let’s get some good kung fu going!”

Uwais will intriguingly get one of the last fights in the movie, squaring off against Chen. It's not known if he'll use his patented silat style, or perhaps something more traditional, but no matter what, one thinks about "The Raid," it's undeniable that he knows how to kick some serious ass. We wonder if any other notable martial arts heavy hitters will be brought in to amp up the film's action.

The film appears to be in pre-production -- as seen in this proof of concept video in regards to the free-flowing camera work Reeves hopes to employ -- with filming set to take place in Beijing, Hong Kong and Macau. And so far, this is building up into something quite intriguing.
